The Baldwin Varsity hockey team played their home opener against Thomas Jefferson last night at Ice Castle Arena. Junior Collin Kuch scored first with a pass from Junior Joey Antonio. Early in the second period, Junior Trevor Belak made it 2-0 with an unassisted goal. Thomas Jefferson scored working to catch the Fighting Highlanders, however, Senior Keith Reed scored an unassisted goal making it 3-1. Before the end of the second, Senior Dylan Belak scored, assisted by Junior Dom Trimbur. Thomas Jefferson struck twice in the third period to make it 4-3. With one minute remaining, Thomas Jefferson pulled their goalie to try to even the score. Junior goalie Eddie Nowicki was strong in net especially in the last minute of the game. He faced 33 shots on net during the game. The Baldwin Fighting Highlanders won 4-3 and remained undefeated at 2-0. The next game will be on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at 7:00P at the Ice Castle Arena.
